Born in Guatemala, Marta started her musical career at a young age participating in festivals and school programs. After graduating high school she enrolled in the University of Costa Rica as well as the Modern Music School Academy to study music but it wasn’t until she moved to Houston that she discovered the world of Country Music.
The melodies and detailed stories reeled her in and she began writing Country songs not just in English but in her native Spanish and, as a way to bring her followers together, mixing both languages in the same song. “I started seeing how people who didn’t speak Spanish started smiling at people who didn’t speak all that much English and next thing you know, everybody was having a blast as they understood the language a good time”
Marta moved to Nashville in 2017 and is part of hall -of-famer songwriter Jeffrey Steele’s Academy and has the privilege of being taught by the NSAI Songwriter of the Year and Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame inductee, Pat Alger. She’s written songs for both Country as well as Latin independent artists such as Alyssya Dominguez, and Cynthia Yolanda. Some of her songs have been synchronized on HBO and abc. One of the accomplishments she treasures is being able to work with the Country Music Hall Of Fame and Museum in the Words and Music program helping and teaching bilingual children in Nashville to express themselves through songwriting “It’s a beautiful thing to witness children unveil their creativity as they collaborate, respecting everybody’s contribution. The world needs more of that and I’m blessed to enjoy wonderful moments with the kids”
We’ll keep you posted.
